His mother, Dalia, knew that she wanted to marry his father, Julian, shortly into their courtship. Though Julian seemed somewhat reluctant, Dalia was a devoted woman and wormed her way into his heart. Julian was a outstanding member in the DEATHS organization, and even after learning that Dalia still supported him. One might say she even supported him more because he was one of the illusive founders and a great scientific mind. It helped that he was making copious amounts of money. Before long the two were a power-couple that was making real changes in DEATHS. That was until Dalia got pregnant and had to resign herself to a more home-oriented lifestyle. Julian still often went to his wife for advice, but he was doing extremely well in his department. Julius and the other founders of DEATHS made progress with new weapons and expanding. Though DEATHS was an organization that had been around and about for quite some time, it was Julius and his cohorts that really brought it into a solid organization with a united front. The official title Julius received was Scientific Director, meaning he focused mainly on technology and the creation of weapons. But that was all pre-family. Dalia had a relatively painless pregnancy and the digitama showed up only two months in. With good luck on their side, Julius and Dalia had their baby easily. The child, a perfect English baby with a big DEATHS future, was named Blake Angelus, their perfect little successor. Neither parent could have anticipated that he wouldn't follow in his father's footsteps as perfectly as they hoped. Blake and his digimon bonded instantly. The digimon was a MetalKoromon, which Blake's parents took as a good sign that he would be a very intelligent, technical, and scientific man as he aged. Their child on the other hand was too invested in being a child to even think about taking the place of his aging father, which displeased his strict parents. Both his mother and father worked very hard at giving their child the best education possible, often making sure he spent long hours with tutors, and it did give him an edge as he grew up, but Blake often found new ways to avoid studying. At the age of twelve, Blake was above his class in intelligence and was finally starting to make his parents proud. His works in science class proved he was rather ingenious at thinking of entirely new ways to create and he easily memorized all formulas he was presented with. Blake and his digimon partner even made a habit of constructing little one-purpose robots out of things they found randomly about their house. The little projects were proudly displayed and even won him more than a few science fairs. Within a year his parents took him out of the private school and converted him entirely to home schooling, teaching him as if he was three grades ahead in science and about one in all other subjects. Blake's digimon partner had digivolved up to his child level, Hagurumon, and showed quite a bit of displeasure at all of work that was being pushed on Blake. Hagurumon missed the fun times he could have with his partner and it appeared Blake felt the same way. When Blake confronted his parents about that, only once he was fifteen, they told him he could stop schooling as soon as he finished earning a degree in science. As far as the teen was concerned that was a challenge, and he never backed down when he was challenged like that. It took him quite a short time to step up his studying, and though Hagurumon put up a bit of a fuss at it, Blake was a very good student. The young man burned through his school work so fast that it was almost difficult for his tutors to keep up. By the time he was twenty he had received his bachelors in science and had even been contributing to DEATHS scientific studies for the past year or so, but things took a drastic turn for the worst. Blake's father Julian had aged considerably, having his child in his forties, and wasn't doing well. Mere days after Blake had received his degree, his father suffered from heart failure. His age seemingly justified his heart troubles, but there was a slight uneasiness about the death that really left Dalia reeling. Suspicions weren't uncommon for families that just lost a loved one, and it didn't help that DEATHS was such a shady organization with many foul rumors about them. In less than a few days Blake was asked to take his father's spot. Though the other founders were reluctant about having such a young man in a high position, they all agreed that he knew so much of his father's work and was vastly intelligent enough to fill his shoes. At the very least until a suitable replacement could be found. It didn't take the head of finances long to realize that Blake was easy to manipulate, thusly a perfect member for the team. The scientific studies incited Blake's interest, so he didn't seem to mind his job too much, but when he was asked to create weapons he showed a very strong reluctance that surprised his co-workers. A thread was issued stating that without the weapons they would lose their funding, meaning Blake wouldn't get to so much as hope for a study on digimon evolution, so the young man agreed to do what he must in order to continue his studies. Hagurumon was as vocal as ever about his protests though and it didn't take long for Blake to realize how much his work was wearing him down. Three careful years of study had turned Blake into a snapish emotional mess. That was when the young man formulated a plan to take a little 'vacation'. Blake went to his fellow Veðrfölnir with a presentation about the DEATHS headquarters in Germany. Blake stated that in Germany, where they were currently working on certain digital weapons, there was a virtual system that could benefit from his direct help in the project. It was unusual for the Veðrfölnir to travel unless on specific publicity or financial business, so naturally everyone was weary of Blake's plan. Eventually they contacted Germany and learned that not only was there a virtual system project needing assistance, but that they had been begging Blake to come and help them through their troubles for many months. Eventually they gave Blake their support and bought him a ticket to Germany, though it was only because the virtual system held such promising results as artificial digimon that could be forced through digivolution for study. Blake had intentions to actually assist the people he promised he would, mostly because digivolution was the one thing he studied and never got tired of, but after he had enough of it he had plans to escape. Running from his home, his job, and his responsibilities was probably the most foolish thing he could have ever chosen to do, but Blake had nearly lost his mind in weariness and guilt. Hagurumon supported him every step of the way. It only took a simple week for Blake to get the virtual system running smoothly, artificial digimon behaving just as he knew they should. The digivolution attempts were only about half successful though. Blake made many notes about how he felt digivolution might have been a very selective process depending on the human, which that test had not accounted for. And then his work was done and his return flight was all set up. Blake left his hotel feeling like he might never escape his fate and, though he and Hagurumon had talked about their run so many times, Blake was almost positive he would just end up back at home in the same prison his father had built for him. But Hagurumon rather suddenly knocked out the driver of the car and practically forced Blake out of the car. Bewildered, exhilarated, and entirely lost in a country he was unfamiliar with, Blake was more than alarmed when he stumbled into a bar and the owner started asking him some weird pressing questions. When the blond realized he was confusing Blake he asked in a sharp tone if he was actually there for the job interview or just to get wasted. Knowing now that he was in an unexpected interview, Blake answered with some fake things, such as he was new to town and needed a place to stay and a job quick. After a long pause, the blond said he'd hire Blake, but 'not because of his shit story'. The blond introduced himself as Justus and said the only reason he was hiring Blake was because he was pretty hot and Justus might want someone to play with later. Blake was confused, slightly offended, but needed a job so he just stuck with it. Working in the bar wasn't so bad in the end and he was actually really happy there. Justus was pretty blunt about hitting on him, but he was a kind-hearted guy who gave Blake a place to sleep in his bar. Blake didn't expect to get tangled up into his first romance with the man that had hired him. The two were somewhat violent lovers and often got into stupid fights, but it was painfully clear that Blake cared deeply for Justus. That was why it was so hard a year later when DEATHS put out the heavy search methods. The digimon tournament was approaching and suddenly there were whispers around town about an escaped mental patient. It was just like DEATHS to cover it up in such a manner, but Blake feared Justus would see the images of him scattered about and believe the lies. That was when Blake made the impossible decision to leave when Justus was in Rome for the tournament and face his destiny. There was still time until that point though and Blake wanted so desperately to steal every moment of his makeshift life until he had to give it up.
