His first memories were of play with her when she was only a child and those days seemed really bright. Up until Juri was about nine they lived a normal life with her parents and all was well. But then Juri's mother died and her father fell into a depression. The family owned a bar in Shibuya and that was all the more fuel for Juri's father to drink when he wasn't working. That was when the abuse started. At the time, Leo was still in his child stage, and thus not very strong. Though he tried to protect Juri when her father went on drunken rampages he often couldn't. There were nights when all that Leo could do was comfort his partner as she lay in bed at night. Relief only came one Juri's father found a few wife, remarried, and began working on his new family life. Though her step-mother was kind, Juri didn't take a liking to her or her new step-brother. Juri was still hurting over the loss of her mother and wasn't ready to accept a new one. Meanwhile, Leo tried to support Juri the best he could. The clumsy digimon wasn't very good with emotions though and he often found himself thinking how useless he was to his partner. Juri never showed and displeasure with him though so he continued to try for her. Life continued on without incident until something happened with Juri's friend Takato. The boy had lost his digimon and been sent to a special medical facility, but promptly found a way out. Leo had decided to visit Takato with Juri before they learned he had broken out and came face-to-face with the disturbed child on their way to see him. Juri was worried about him and begged him to go back to the medical facility, but Takato only cared about finding his lost digimon and lashed out against Juri rather violently. In his panic, Leormon digivolved to Leomon and tried to fend off the boy. It was too late though and Juri had already been gravely injured. Leomon received a scar on his chest from the encounter. The last thing the digimon remembered was his data flickering and one last look at Juri before his world went black. Once he had woke, Leomon remembered in painful detail how Takato had killed his partner and he vowed to have his revenge no matter what it took.
