His mother worked herself to the bone each day in a factory so that they could just make due because his father ran the instant he heard that Justus' mother was pregnant. Though it wasn't perfect, Justus was content in his rocky childhood and amused himself by rough-housing with his digimon partner. The two got into epic and sometimes rather serious fights, but it made them both a lot tougher. Justus in particular found himself enjoying fighting greatly and this was the birth of his insatiable desire to be stronger. At the age of ten, when his mother had finally somewhat stabilized their touchy living situation, Justus began picking fights with all of the neighboring children. Back then his digimon was only it's baby II stage, but he still came out on top more than he lost. The other kids grew sore with Justus, mainly because he was so cocky about winning, and began plotting against him. It wasn't long until a group of kids and their child level digimon came knocking on his door. That was the first and most defining moment in Justus' life according to him. Despite being vastly outnumbered and out powered, Justus' determination and his digimon partner's will brought them a miracle victory. In a desperation the small kokomon suddenly jumped two levels and digivolved into a rabbitmon. The fight was swift and violent and many of the children ran off with bloodied knees and hands, but Justus tasted his first overwhelming victory. Rabbitmon quickly reverted back down to it's first form, conomon, but Justus felt like a real king. His mother though was extremely angry with him and once the other children's mothers heard about what happened they forced Justus and his mother from the town rather rudely. Luckily Justus' mother had saved a fair sum of money since his father ran off, so moving wasn't much of a trouble at all. Once the they had settled in their new home town Justus' mother even started to dream about a good life there. The town wasn't as hard on her as the last and she made herself some goals. Justus still found trouble here and there, but nothing nearly as big as his last big fight in his home town. In a short five years when Justus was fifteen his mother had achieved her goal and bought a run down old pub. Justus took up working there during the week and only got to train during the weekends. Life progressed like this for years, and Justus felt himself getting more and more impatient about his strength. His partner had gotten up to Cutemon, a child level, but that didn't feel like it was enough for Justus. On the weekends he started competing in a back alley tournament and though cutemon did fuss a little it was clear that the digimon really enjoyed competing and winning just as much as his partner. Before long Justus had defeated everyone in the back alley tournaments and his voracious need to be stronger hit him in waves. During the week he thought about who he could fight next and on the weekend he spent his days challenging anyone he met who had a digimon. It got so bad that he started picking fist fights with anyone who gave him any trouble. Then, at the age of twenty, Justus' mother suffered a sudden heart attack. Though she was rushed to the hospital she didn't make it in time and passed away later that night. Justus wasn't terribly close to his mother, but being without any family was like a shock to the system. Justus wasn't aware his mother had left a will, but she had one written up some time before her death and the pub was left to her son along with everything else. Justus devoted himself to making the pub more successful and hired on some reliable staff as soon as he could afford it. For the time Justus mostly forgot about his fighting aspirations while he attended to the bar. The price for this though was the vices he picked up in the process. Smoking and drinking wasn't too bad, but Justus began hitting on anyone in sight, and that often got him into trouble with jilted lovers. After one particularly awful spat with a bedmate, Justus remembered how much he enjoyed fighting. That was when he heard about the tournament. Justus happily took some time off his work, leaving a dear friend in charge for a time, so he could go compete. To his surprise he managed to fight his way all the way to the semi-finals, but lost at the last moment. The rage that Justus felt over coming so close to the ultimate victory fueled him to come back and do it again next year. That year he won in a landslide and he managed to hold onto that title for another year. Through all of his years of fighting Justus grew to hate the symbolic figures known as Aesir. He always felt that they were pampered children who didn't deserve the spotlight they were given. Justus vowed that he would crush the next tournament and any Aesir that might try to compete.
